How Poke Packs works
Packs, odds, where the cards come from, and what is live today versus planned.
Overview
Poke Packs is a pack-opening site on Solana. You buy a pack with the project's pump.fun token. Opening it rolls a rarity tier, and the backend immediately buys a real PSA or CGC graded Pokémon slab priced inside that tier's USD band from the Collector Crypt marketplace, paid for with the USDC your own tokens sold for.
Each card is an MPL Core NFT backed by a physical slab in Collector Crypt's vault. After the reveal you either keep it (and can have the slab shipped to you) or sell it back for 85% of what it cost, in USDC.
How it works
- 1
Pay
Your wallet sends the pack price in tokens to the treasury. The pack price is in USD and converted to a token amount on the server. It uses the live Jupiter token price, quoted right before you pay. Payments up to 5% short are accepted to absorb price movement; anything shorter is refunded.
- 2
Verify
The server loads your transaction, checks it succeeded and that the treasury's token balance rose by at least the required amount. The paying wallet becomes the pack's owner. Each transaction can open exactly one pack.
- 3
Roll
Your roll (0 to 9,999) is computed from the committed server seed and your payment signature, then mapped onto the pack's tier odds. It's saved with your payment before anything is bought (see Fairness).
- 4
Sell & buy
10% of your tokens are burned and the rest are sold for USDC through Jupiter. The server then fetches live Pokémon listings on Collector Crypt in the rolled tier's price band that this USDC covers, shuffles them and buys one. If a listing is sold out from under us, it tries the next one.
- 5
Reveal
The slab photo, tier and price are shown. The card sits in the treasury until you choose.
- 6
Keep or sell
Sign a message with your wallet to confirm. Keep transfers the NFT to you. Sell pays you USDC and relists the card.
Packs are only offered when the treasury holds enough USDC to cover the most expensive card the pack could roll, so a payment is never accepted without funds to back the card.
Packs & odds
Mainnet packs are below. Odds are weights out of 10,000; the price band is what the card cost on the Collector Crypt marketplace. Expected value is a rough estimate using each band's midpoint.
Starter Pack
$25 · est. value ≈ $14
| Tier | Odds | Card value |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 75% | $11 – $15 |
| Uncommon | 20% | $15 – $18 |
| Rare | 4% | $18 – $20 |
| Chase | 1% | $20 – $21 |
Elite Pack
$100 · est. value ≈ $59
| Tier | Odds | Card value |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 75% | $45 – $65 |
| Uncommon | 20% | $65 – $75 |
| Rare | 4% | $75 – $82 |
| Chase | 1% | $82 – $86 |
The devnet build has a single $50 Devnet Test Pack with bands matched to the few listings that exist on the devnet marketplace. It is for testing only.
Keeping & shipping
Choose Keep and sign the confirmation message. The card's MPL Core NFT is transferred from the treasury to your wallet. It is now yours, independent of Poke Packs.
To get the physical slab, open the card on Collector Crypt (the reveal links straight to it) and redeem it. Collector Crypt handles shipping from their vault; their redemption terms and any fees apply. You can also hold the NFT, or list it on Collector Crypt yourself.
Selling back
Choose Sell and sign the confirmation message. You receive 85% of what the card cost (its purchase price on the marketplace, not its insured value), paid in USDC to your wallet in the same step.
The card is then relisted on Collector Crypt at the price we paid, which returns USDC to the treasury when it sells. The 15% spread stays with the treasury.
The token & burn
Packs are paid in the project's pump.fun token. There is no prize pool to fund: your pack pays for your card. When you rip, 10% of your tokens are burned and the other 90% are sold for USDC through Jupiter on the spot. That USDC buys your card, so every card in a pack's bands costs at most what the pack's tokens sell for.
When your card costs less than what your tokens sold for, the difference stays in the treasury. That's the house margin, and it pays for sell-backs. Every sale, burn and purchase is an on-chain transaction from the treasury address.
BurnLive
10% of every token paid for a pack is burned on-chain, so the total supply shrinks with every rip.
Fairness & transparency
TodayLive
Rolls are provably fair. Your roll is HMAC-SHA256(server seed, payment signature): the first 4 bytes as a number, modulo 10,000, mapped onto the pack's odds. The SHA-256 hash of the server seed is published at the bottom of the home page before you pay, so the seed can't be swapped after seeing your payment, and we can't know your transaction signature in advance. When the seed is rotated, the old seed is revealed and every past roll can be recomputed.
- No re-rolls. The roll is stored with your payment before any purchase. If opening fails and you retry, the same roll is used.
- One payment, one card. A transaction signature can open one pack. Concurrent attempts on the same payment are rejected.
- Step-down on empty bands. If no listing in the rolled band can be bought, the pack falls back to the next cheaper tier. When a band is thin this shifts real outcomes toward cheaper tiers.
- On-chain trail. Your payment, the card purchase, the transfer or USDC payout are all Solana transactions you can look up.
The roll decides your tier. The exact card within that tier's price band is picked at random from the live listings at that moment. Listings change constantly, so that step can't be replayed later.
Getting started
- 1
Install Phantom
Phantom is the only supported wallet. While we're on devnet, switch Phantom to Solana devnet in its developer settings.
- 2
Connect
Click Connect on the home page and approve the connection.
- 3
Get test tokens
On devnet, click Get test tokens in the header. It mints enough test tokens for two packs and adds a little devnet SOL for fees if your balance is low.
- 4
Rip a pack
Pick a pack, approve the token transfer in Phantom and watch the reveal.
- 5
Keep or sell
Approve the signature request for your choice. Keep sends the NFT to your wallet; sell sends USDC.
FAQ
Are the cards real?
Yes. Every card is a PSA or CGC graded slab held in Collector Crypt's vault. The NFT you receive is the on-chain claim to that physical slab.
Why did I get a cheaper tier than the one I was hoping for?
Tiers are rolled with the odds in the tables above. If the rolled tier's price band has no buyable listings at that moment, the system steps down to the next cheaper tier rather than leaving you empty-handed. See Fairness.
My pack failed after I paid. Did I lose my tokens?
No. The payment is recorded against its transaction. The app lists it under "Paid packs waiting to open" with a Retry button. Retrying uses your original roll and can only ever produce one card.
Can someone else keep or sell my card?
No. Payment transactions are public, so keep and sell both require a message signed by the wallet that paid for the pack.
I closed the tab during the reveal. Is the card gone?
No. Cards you haven't kept or sold yet show up again under your wallet when you reconnect.
Can I change my mind after choosing?
No. Keep or sell is locked the moment you choose, before any transfer runs, so a choice is final and can't be applied twice.
Which wallets are supported?
Phantom only, for now.
Is the token price live?
Yes. Pack prices are set in USD and converted to tokens at the live Jupiter price, re-quoted right before you pay. If the price drops more than 5% between the quote and the check, your tokens are refunded automatically.
Risks & disclaimer
- Opening packs is a game of chance. Most pulls are worth less than the pack price; expected value is an estimate, not a promise.
- Card prices, the token price and the sell-back value can all change. The token can lose most or all of its value.
- Tier rolls are provably fair, but the specific card within a band is picked from live listings and can't be replayed.
- Physical custody, grading and shipping are handled by Collector Crypt and the grading companies, under their terms.
- The Solana network, RPC providers, marketplaces and wallets can fail. Pulls depend on live listings in each price band.
- The service currently runs on devnet for testing. Nothing here is financial advice. Check that participating is legal where you live.
